Google ニュース (Google News) は、Google Inc.が提供するニュースアグリゲーター。Googleのページランクに関連して、Googleの主任研究者である Krishna Bharat が2001年に開発したストーリーランクをベースとして始まった。人間はアグリゲーションのアルゴリズムを調節するだけで、掲載する記事の選択は全て自動的に行われる。2006年1月、Google News ベータ版が登場した〔Krishna Bharat, "And now, News" , The Official Google Blog, 23 January 2006. "We're taking Google News out of beta! When we launched the English-language edition in September 2002, we entered untested waters with a grand experiment in news browsing - using computers to organize the world's news in real time and providing a bird's eye view of what's being reported on virtually any topic. By presenting news "clusters" (related articles in a group), we thought it would encourage readers to get a broader perspective by digging deeper into the news -- reading ten articles instead of one, perhaps -- and then gain a better understanding of the issues, which could ultimately benefit society. == 技術的解説 ==
2002年4月、ベータ版として紹介され、サービスは2006年1月23日にベータ版として公開された。アグリゲーションは（2008年6月31日現在）、19カ国語で40の地域について別々に行われており、さらに地域と言語の拡大が行われている。現在運用中の言語は、英語、ドイツ語、フランス語、スペイン語、イタリア語、ポーランド語、ポルトガル語、中国語、日本語、韓国語、オランダ語、アラビア語、ヘブライ語、ノルウェー語、チェコ語、ハンガリー語、スウェーデン語、ギリシア語、ロシア語、ヒンディー語、テルグ語、タミル語、トルコ語、マラヤーラム語である。
このサービスは、様々なニュースサイトに過去30日間に掲載されたニュース記事を対象としている。英語版では約4,500のサイトを対象としている。他の言語ではもっと少ない。先頭ページには各記事の最初の200文字ぶん程度が掲載され、より大きなコンテンツ（元のサイト）へのリンクがある。
